Matt and Sarah met while they were both living in Lynchburg, VA. They went on a fantastic first date at a little sandwich shop/bookstore...and then didn't talk again for months (surprise, surprise...he didn't text her back because of work). Fast forward a few months, and they are on their "official" first date on New Years Eve 2016 to see the fireworks at Wintergreen. After dating for two years, Sarah and Matt moved to Raleigh together at the beginning of 2019 to start new jobs (and to be closer to beautiful gardens). Sarah is happily employed at an SAP firm as a Business Development Manager connecting the best consultants with the projects that need them. Matt is living his dream - he works at an expansive nursery and landscaping firm that allows him to wear every hat possible (and then some). They are both putting down roots in the area. Matt proposed to Sarah on December 20, 2019, at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta (which is now one of her favorite places). It was the first surprise Matt had ever pulled on Sarah. He had the ring shipped to Alice, his sister, so that Sarah wouldn't find it while packing, and convinced Sarah the trip was to celebrate Alice's graduation. Sarah happily said yes, and immediately started planning the wedding. Planning for a wedding in the midst of COVID-19 has been challenging, but they are looking forward to celebrating with everyone virtually on October 24, 2020. An in-person renewal ceremony is planned in a few years once things are safe again. Update: Thank you for joining us for our wedding! It was wonderful to be able to celebrate with so many of our friends and family. We just received our wedding photos back, and are excited to share them with you.
